A silhouetted figure standing facing away from teh viewer. They hold a dripping paint brush and are surrounding by paint cans. A trail of paint and smoke are visible and they are bright neon colours.

How could we bring utopia closer to us, make it less abstract, possible or concrete? This question leads the workshop project, directed by Michele di Giacomo and divided in three parts:

  1. During the lockdown period, an anonymous questionnaire about future expectations and thoughts on the present and the past. An intimate and valuable investigation which allowed us to know the participants in a protected form;
  2. A virtual community on Facebook, a sort of a notebook, with videos, reading tips, quotes and quiz about utopia and dystopia;
  3. A workshop, both on digital platforms and in the presence, with the aim of elaborating every suggestion proposed on the webpage artistically. From the analysis of injustices, seen or suffered by the participants, we played and figured better worlds, through debates, plays, creative writing exercises and readings.

The material produced will be the starting point for other workshops and for the creation of the play, which will be performed in 2021.
