The 2023 October meeting consisted of 2 parts. On the first day the 3rd HOPE!-Conference took place. The second day of the meeting offered hands-on workshops dedicated to the then running implementation phase #3 „Productions based on Immersive Outreach“

10:00 Commune AI – A Try-Out

What is it like to live in a collective with artificial intelligences? COMMUNE AI is an online performance in which an international audience comes together to jointly establish an online commune and experiment with co-living with artificial intelligences. During the performance various AIs act as digital roommates, moderators, and mediators in a process of playful approach between people who have never met before.
For COMMUNE AI the performance group Interrobang is developing its own platform, which will be tested with an audience for the first time at the Hope! conference. The pre- and post-discussion will take place on Zoom, and the tryout will run through a website on a laptop or desktop.
FEEDBACK
After the end of the try-out, participants are asked to give feedback on their experiences to Interrobang.

14:00 AR Markers in Disguise

Fabian Raith and Nils Gallist will showcase multiple possible workflows on how to use unique imiges as alternatives for QR Markers. These alternative markers can be used to trigger Augmented Reality applications to seamlessly include AR into a performance without the need of tagging the place with disruptive QR imigary.

14:00 tech-ing the stage –

possibilities of interaction design by technological means
Luise Ehrenwerth & Markus Schubert

Join us for an engaging workshop that delves into the world of interactive design, where creativity meets technology. In this session, we’ll introduce you to interactive design and showcase our own artistic projects as examples. Then, it’s time for hands-on activities with sensors, actors, unity apps and microcontrollers programmed using Micropython and C, all connecting to an MQTT network for seamless communication. Participants can choose from three paths: 1) Create interactive experiences using Node-RED, 2) Learn microcontroller programming to develop custom logic, 3) Combine clothing with sensors and actors to craft interactive, wearable art, and 4) Dive into Unity visualizations as actors, which react dynamically to sensor data. Small groups of 3-4 participants are encouraged to collaborate. At the end, each group is invited to show their creations, which may or may not be related. We’ll conclude with a discussion to reflect on the workshop experience and share insights. Join us for a session of exploration at the intersection of performing art and technology.

14:00 TouchDesigner – Max Schweder

The multifunctional software for stages: We build an automatic video cutter
In this workshop, participants will receive a brief introduction to the TouchDesigner development environment and its many uses.
As an example, we will jointly develop a setup that makes it possible to automatically or event-driven cut back and forth between different video clips and live inputs and to add effects to the output.
