Future Echoes

We live surrounded by technology. The most frequent communication is no longer between humans and humans, but between machines and machines. There is no value judgment about this fact. It is just a consciousness that activates thought and that must lead to concrete action.

In the frame of PlayOn! project, Future Echoes is a theatrical event that aims to artistically reflect the action of linking the use of technology to 3 fundamental values of life in society – Human Rights, Democracy, and Law – with about 50 young people from different European countries.

We want to challenge young people from Estonia, Norway, Hungary, Portugal, Italy, Austria, Poland, and the United Kingdom to open their own Constitution, the General Law of each country. At first, we want that the young people search for articles that reflect on the use of technology. In a second phase, we ask them to write, in their own words, articles that they believe are important to regulate our relationship with technology and robots, for example.

During the Ars Electronica Festival we will promote a Young Lab to build a digital-robotic object that will have music and an associated voice. This digital-robotic object will be the scenography of a final event where these words can be written and perhaps printed as a Constitution for Humans and Robots that will guide our future life in society.

Future Echoes is artistically coordinated by Johannes May (Robot), Marius Zoschke (Audio) and João Neca – Teatro O Bando (theatre) inside PlayOn! – New Storytelling with Immersive Technologies and will be presented in the frame of the Ars Electronica festival in September 2023.
