Nottetempo

The third and final Elsinor production within the PlayOn! project continues from a thematic point of view what was started in the previous ones.
In the first production, the audience’s avatar is a girl: if it is not a problem for a female audience to identify with a male character, the opposite is not necessarily obvious. After the revisiting, in the second production, of the story of Mary Shelley and her Creature, here is now a new lunge into the work of a female artist: in this case it is not a writer but a painter, Remedios Varo.
The figures and themes of Varo’s work are brought to the stage by Jlenia Biffi’s wrist puppets, protagonists of a piece in VR for a limited number of spectators at a time in public spaces such as schools, libraries, museums.

Nottetempo is a journey through nightly (sound)scapes with a doll.
Night. Time stands still. The stars are silent and the Moon is orphaned in the sky. The Lady of The Night still keeps working, flitting from one moment of creative genius to the next. Her’s is a motif that can be found often in Spanish surrealist painter Remedios Varo’s (1908 – 1983) work. Both Varo and the Lady come alive thanks to XR technology and Jlenia Biff’s masterfully crafted dolls. A soundscape to guide each visitor through the mesmerizing midnight of sound.
